Sujan Jawai
A luxury tented camp among the granite hills of Jawai
Sujan Jawai is a tented camp in the Jawai region of Rajasthan, halfway between Udaipur and Jodhpur at the foot of the Aravalli hills, set among granite outcrops, scrubland and sand riverbeds close to the Jawai Bandh reservoir. The camp opened in 2014 and was designed by its owners, Anjali and Jaisal Singh. It has ten tents, eight of them Rock Suites, with canvas walls, stainless steel and leather furnishings, wooden floors, air conditioning, heating and mosquito nets, together with a Family Suite and a Royal Suite made up of two tents joined by a canopy, which has a private heated pool. Meals are served in a dining tent overlooking the hills and draw on produce from the camp's kitchen gardens and local farmers, with dinners also arranged outdoors under the stars, and a spa tent and a pool with a view are set among the rocks. The landscape is home to leopards, which live alongside the village communities and the Rabari herders who have grazed their animals here for generations, and guests can also walk through the countryside, watch birds at the reservoir, visit nearby temples and villages and take part in cooking classes. Drinks, meals and activities are included in the stay, and the camp is a member of Relais & Châteaux.
What we love about Sujan Jawai
-
Granite hills and sand riverbeds
The camp sits among ancient granite formations, grassland and dry riverbeds, a landscape that suits both leopards and long walks.
-
Rabari herders and village life
The Rabari community and local villages share the land with the camp, and guests can meet them and visit nearby temples.
-
The Royal Suite
Two tents joined by a canopy form the Royal Suite, with a private heated pool for guests who want more space and privacy.
