About This Golden Triangle Tour
Delhi, Agra and Jaipur form India's Golden Triangle, three cities that together tell the story of the Mughal emperors and the Rajput kings. In a few unhurried days, this Golden Triangle tour takes you from the grand avenues and ancient bazaars of Delhi to the Taj Mahal at sunrise, then on to the rose-pink city of Jaipur and the hilltop ramparts of Amber Fort. It is the perfect complement to a tiger safari, adding a chapter of royal history to your time in the wild.
Each city is revealed by a private historian, with early starts timed to beat the crowds and afternoons left free to rest or explore. You stay in the finest hotels in each city, from a family-run guest house to a former palace, chosen from our handpicked list to suit the way you like to travel. A VIP welcome at Delhi airport and chauffeur-driven private SUVs make every transfer effortless.
We travel responsibly. In Jaipur you ascend Amber Fort by private vehicle rather than by elephant, in keeping with our commitment to ethical wildlife travel. Each journey contributes to TOFTigers, winner of a Travel + Leisure Global Vision Award in 2025. The best time to travel is October to March, when days are warm and evenings cool, and every departure is private and bespoke, curated around your dates and interests.

Day 1: New Delhi
A VIP representative meets you on arrival and guides you swiftly through the airport or, if you are joining from one of our safaris, your chauffeur collects you from your hotel. In the late afternoon, a private historian introduces you to the city at Humayun's Tomb, the garden tomb that inspired the Taj Mahal, before a drive past India Gate and the grand avenues of Lutyens' Delhi.
Day 2: New Delhi to Agra
Drive: about 3.5 hours (230 km)

After lunch, drive to Agra on the Yamuna Expressway. The evening is best spent watching the Taj Mahal glow in the setting sun, from your hotel where the view allows or from Mehtab Bagh across the river.
Day 3: Agra to Jaipur
Drive: about 5 hours (240 km)
Drive: about 5 hours (240 km). Rise before dawn for the short ride by private buggy to the Taj Mahal, timed to watch the marble turn from grey to gold as the sun comes up. You arrive in the pink city in time for dinner.
Day 4: Jaipur
A private historian guides you through the city's great monuments. The morning begins at Amber Fort, which you ascend by private vehicle, and continues through the courtyards of the City Palace and the giant astronomical instruments of Jantar Mantar, with a pause before the honeycomb façade of the Hawa Mahal. The afternoon is yours to shape from the leisure menu, and the evening to enjoy the gardens of your hotel as peacocks wander across the lawns.
Day 5: Jaipur to New Delhi
Drive: about 5 hours (280 km), or a flight of about 1 hour
Drive: about 5 hours (280 km), or a flight of about 1 hour. After breakfast, your chauffeur drives you back to Delhi, or to Jaipur airport for a short flight onward. You might instead continue to Ranthambore for tigers, just three and a half hours away.
A note from our planners: The Taj Mahal is closed on Fridays, so we arrange your days around it. October to March brings the most comfortable weather; from April to June the days are hot, and early starts make the most of the cooler hours.
